Job summary

Empa in Dübendorf, Switzerland, invites you to join a small research & support group and provide services to internal and external partners in academia and industry. You will work with delicate electron-optical instrumentation and maintain high-end electron microscopes and related equipment, tackling technical problems as puzzles in a collaborative setting.

Your profile includes practical experience in operating and maintaining electron microscopes, plus related sample preparation methods.

Qualifications

• Experience operating and maintaining electron microscopes.
• Familiarity with small electro-mechanical devices.
• Fluency in English (spoken and written) mandatory; German desirable.

Responsibilities

• Operate the center's electron microscopes and the sample preparation facilities.
• Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and basic repairs of microscopy equipment.
• Coordinate complex repairs with instrument manufacturers and external service providers.
• Introduction and training of users to the tools & methods.
• Participation in scientific projects.
• Provide electron-microscopy services to internal and external customers.
