Zusammenfassung

ETH Zurich’s Binnig and Rohrer Nanotechnology Center (BRNC) seeks a hands-on Nanofabrication R&D Engineer to advance process development, own selective equipment, and support safe introduction of new materials. You will collaborate with researchers and technicians to ensure efficient, safe cleanroom operations and ongoing improvement of fabrication workflows.

The role blends scientific insight with practical facility work, including process optimization, training, safety oversight, and digital

Qualifikationen

  • Minimum 5 years hands-on experience in nanofabrication, semiconductor processing, wet chemistry, and vacuum-based techniques.
  • Strong understanding of materials hazards, compatibility, and contamination risks.
  • Experience evaluating or introducing new chemicals, materials, or processes in a complex technical setting.
  • Proficiency with IT tools, process databases, and digital workflows.

Aufgaben

  • Design, develop, optimize, and document nanofabrication processes for academic and industrial R&D.
  • Own and maintain selected cleanroom equipment including deposition, characterization, and wet-processing systems.
  • Lead safety activities and manage chemicals, gases, safety equipment, and cleanroom operations.
  • Train researchers, advise on tool usage and process development, and contribute to courses and seminars.
  • Maintain manuals and records; drive digital workflow integration and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate across teams to stay updated on nanofabrication trends and enhance facility reliability.
