Zusammenfassung

Collège du Léman in Geneva invites applications for a Learning Support Teacher on a temporary basis to support literacy, numeracy and language development across year groups. You will collaborate with classroom teachers and external professionals to tailor interventions within or alongside regular schooling.

Qualifikationen

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Bilingual Learning Support Teacher provides flexible learning support services across the school according to operational needs. The role focuses on identifying students' learning needs and supporting them in achieving their full potential within the classroom environment whenever possible.

The Learning Support Teacher collaborates closely with teachers, school leaders, parents, and external professionals to ensure that support strategies are aligned with individual student needs. In partnership with classroom teachers, the Learning Support Teacher develops and delivers targeted interventions that can, where appropriate, be integrated into regular classroom practice.

This position offers flexible assignments based on the school's requirements and may involve supporting students across different year groups and learning support programmes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Learning Support Teacher is responsible, in collaboration with the teacher, for:

  • Planning, organising and implementing specific interventions to develop literacy, numeracy and language skills for students who have identified specific learning differences (to include HP)
  • Providing in class’s support or small groups pull-outs as appropriate
  • Providing 1:1 support for those students with significant learning differences which have been identified by an external evaluation.

This involves:

  • Completing student observations and evaluations.
  • Collaborating with teachers to provide classroom management suggestions and plans regarding identified students
  • Mentoring assistants and support staff as appropriate
  • Communication with parents in collaboration with the classroom teacher, Principals and/or Deputies
  • Collaborating with School Counsellor and external specialists
  • Providing regular feedback to principal/deputies.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Presenting a positive role model by employing appropriate and respectful interactions with students and staff
  • Maintaining own records for identified students.
  • Leading workshops with teachers and other staff for professional development
  • Remaining current in the field of Learning Differences by attending in-service programs, mandated staff meetings trainings and self-selected workshops and conferences.
  • Attending reviews or other related meetings
  • Assisting with playground supervision and special activities as requested.

  • Assessing students formally and informally including standardised assessments, screeners and use these to assess data to inform support for those students in need.
  • Providing regular feedback on progress and achievements to individual student's teachers and parents.
  • The learning support teacher will serve as a case manager for students receiving learning support services, including writing IEPs and keeping the students learning support master list up to date
  • Fluent in English (level C1 minimum reading/writing speaking).French desirable at B1 level.
  • Familiar with the MTSS inclusive framework
  • Experience in administrating standardiaed assessments and diagnostic screeners.
  • A minimum of 2 years of special educational/learning support teaching in a diverse setting
QUALIFICATION

EXPERIENCE

In terms of experience, you should demonstrate an ability to evaluate a student’s needs and develop appropriate interventions, both in small group settings and within larger classes. Previous experience working with Preschool/Primary aged children with specific learning needs is highly valued, as well as an understanding of confidential processes and a commitment to respecting confidentiality. Additionally, experience with different cultures and familiarity with programmes for high-potential (HP) students are considered advantageous.
