Novartis xRNA Therapeutics in Basel seeks a PhD-level scientist to lead mid/large-scale oligonucleotide synthesis and manage a team at our Basel site. The role requires collaboration across research and development to advance RNA therapies addressing unmet medical needs.

You will mentor scientists in synthesis, purification, and conjugation, collaborate with global teams, and drive process development and scale-up for oligonucleotide modalities supporting in vivo studies.

Qualifikationen

• Ph.D. in Chemistry or related discipline with a strong focus on oligonucleotide chemistry and synthesis.
• Minimum 2–3 years of industry experience in mid- to large-scale oligonucleotide solid-phase synthesis, purification, analysis, conjugation.
• Extensive experience operating and maintaining AKTA Oligopilot/Oligosynt systems and AKTA Avant purification platforms; proficiency in Unicorn software.
• Strong hands-on experience with process development, method optimization and scale-up strategies of oligonucleotides.
• Demonstrated leadership, including mentoring and team management.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a matrixed cross-functional global teams' environment.

Aufgaben

• Plan and execute medium- and large-scale solid-phase synthesis, purification, and analysis of chemically modified oligonucleotides and conjugates.
• Mentor and lead a team of scientists specialized in oligonucleotide synthesis, purification, analysis, and conjugation at millimole scale.
• Collaborate with global discovery, development, and project teams to advance novel oligonucleotide chemistries and enable transition to development.
• Identify and implement technologies and workflows to enhance production capabilities and turn-around times.
• Communicate scientific findings and project updates to stakeholders via presentations and reports.
• Maintain high-quality scientific documentation including ELNs, protocols, and project summaries.
• Foster a culture of scientific excellence, collaboration, and problem solving.
