Roche in Basel invites you to join the Preclinical Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (pCMC) team within pRED for an internship. You will explore either oligonucleotide synthesis and purification or advanced LC-MS analytics, gaining hands-on laboratory experience and collaboration across a dynamic, science-driven environment.

The position emphasizes curiosity, responsibility, and teamwork, with opportunities to contribute to innovative drug development while developing critical lab skills

Qualifikationen

• BSc or MSc student or recent graduate in Chemistry or Biochemistry, within 12 months of start date.
• Hands-on laboratory experience required.
• Experience with oligonucleotide chemistry or LC-MS analytics is desirable.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Strong organizational skills and willingness to learn.

The Opportunity

As an Intern in our team your main tasks will include:

• Option 1 - Oligo synthesisDiscovery of new techniques for the synthesis of complex oligonucleotidesPurification and analysis of reactions involving oligonucleotides with state of the art chromatographic techniques.Scale up your findings into processes for the preparation of multi-gram quantities of desired target materials.
• Option 2 - Oligo Analytical ChemistryState-of-the-art analysis of complex synthetic oligonucleotides by LC-MS.Development and implementation of innovative analytical methods to support synthesis, development and production.Conducting critical in-solution stability and hold-time studies.

Who you are

• An enthusiastic, motivated and scientifically interested person who enjoys teamwork and has a strong willingness to learn new techniques.
• A BSc or MSc student, or a recent graduate (within the last 12 months prior to the start date), in Chemistry or Biochemistry. Prior hands-on laboratory experience is required.
• Prior experience with oligonucleotide chemistry (solid phase synthesis, conjugation, purification and analysis; Option 1) or LC-MS analytics (Option 2) is desirable.
• Excellent organizational skills and proactive knowledge sharing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Please note, due to regulations, non-EU/EFTA citizens must provide a certificate from the university stating that an internship is mandatory as part of the application documents, and must be continuously enrolled in their university for the whole duration of this internship.this internship is not suitable for a thesis, nor for PhD students or post-graduates.
