Job summary

Koch Minerals & Trading, with offices in London and Geneva and a head office in the US, seeks an European Head of Power to build a new Power desk within the Global Gas business. This is an IC role, with growth into management within 6–12 months and the chance to form a team.

Responsibilities include owning the European power book, shaping desk strategy, advancing analytics, and supporting research on power and gas markets while preparing to build a larger team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or master's in a related field.
• Solid experience in trading NWE power markets and knowledge of Southern Europe and/or Nordic markets.
• Experience in European Power market fundamental analysis.
• Diversified strategy approach to risk deployment.
• Understanding of flow-based market coupling and European interconnector flow.
• Strong analytical capabilities and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of weather fundamentals in power markets.
• Leadership experience.
• Entrepreneurial in nature – startup mentality.

Responsibilities

• Own the power book and proprietary positions in European markets.
• Communicate with the commercial team to develop desk strategy and POV.
• Drive development of power analytics and future strategy.
• Maintain and support fundamental research on power and gas markets.
• Build a future small team around the power desk.
