Job summary

Koch Minerals & Trading, with offices in London and Geneva and its head office in the US, seeks an European Head of Power to build a new power desk within the Global Gas business. This IC role points toward a managerial path within 6–12 months and the opportunity to assemble a small team.

You will own the book for European power proprietary positions, align with the commercial team on desk strategy, and lead the development of new power analytics and research.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or Master's in a related field.
• Solid experience in trading NWE power markets, and knowledge of Southern Europe and/or Nordic markets.
• Experience in European Power market fundamental analysis.
• Accomplished at building a diversified strategy approach to Risk deployment.
• Understanding of flow-based market coupling and European interconnector flow.
• Strong analytical capabilities and problem-solving skills.
• Good knowledge and proven application of weather fundamentals in power markets.
• Previous leadership experience
• Entrepreneur in nature – start up mentality

Responsibilities

• Own the book for power proprietary positions in European markets.
• Communicate with the wider commercial team to maintain and develop desk trading strategy and POV.
• Drive the development of new power analytics and future strategy development.
• Maintain and support fundamental research on the power and gas markets for Koch.
• Build a future small team around power desk
