Credit Analyst – Commodity Trade Finance

About the role
For a Swiss financial institution based in Geneva, we are looking for a Credit Analyst to join the Credit Analysis team.
The role involves assessing the financial strength and creditworthiness of clients and counterparties active in Commodity Trade Finance, analysing transaction risks and making recommendations regarding credit facilities.
You will work closely with the Commodity Trade Finance and Relationship Management teams during the structuring and review of transactions.
Key responsibilities
- Analyse financial statements and Credit Approval Forms (CAFs) for a portfolio of clients active in Commodity Trade Finance.
- Assess the creditworthiness and financial strength of clients and counterparties.
- Provide structured credit risk assessments and recommendations to the relevant internal decision-makers.
- Maintain up-to-date credit files through regular review of financial statements and financial performance.
- Apply and update internal credit ratings for assigned counterparties.
- Review and validate accreditation requests relating to major counterparties, brokers and insurance companies.
- Assess credit risk and provide recommendations on one-off transactions presented by the Commodity Trade Finance team.
- Work closely with Relationship Managers and Commodity Trade Finance teams during the initial structuring of transactions and establishment of credit lines.
- Participate in client meetings when required.
Your profile
- University degree in Finance, Economics or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience as a Credit Analyst / Credit Officer within a bank active in Commodity Trade Finance, or relevant experience in an audit firm managing a portfolio of commodity trading clients.
- Strong understanding of Commodity Trade Finance activities and instruments.
- Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
- Strong experience in financial statement analysis and credit assessment.
- Ability to present financial analysis in a clear, structured and concise manner.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Autonomous and comfortable working independently.
- Excellent written and spoken English; additional languages are an advantage.
- Excellent command of MS Office.
- Swiss residency required.
