Job summary

Nestlé Research in Lausanne, Switzerland invites a Bioinformatics Intern to contribute to an advanced yeast genome annotation pipeline by integrating gene expression data. You will develop automated solutions, manage local genome databases and genome browser visualization, and document workflows for reproducibility.

As part of the Bioinformatics & Data Analytics group, you will collaborate with microbiologists and genomics scientists to translate biological requirements into technical solutions

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, Biology or related field.
• Good knowledge of genomics and strong exposure to bioinformatics.
• Understanding of Next-Generation Sequencing technologies and their application to genomic or transcriptomic data analysis.
• Strong programming/scripting skills: Python, R or Bash; Unix/Linux experience advantageous.
• Basic knowledge of code version control (Git).

Responsibilities

• Review literature and evaluate bioinformatics software for integrating gene expression data into a yeast genome annotation pipeline.
• Develop and improve scripts and workflows to automate genomic data processing and genome annotation.
• Integrate annotated yeast genomes into a local genome database and genome browser for visualization and downstream analysis.
• Document code, workflows and results to ensure traceability and reproducibility.
• Collaborate with microbiologists and genomics scientists to translate biological requirements into technical solutions and present progress.
