Job summary

Nestlé Research in Lausanne seeks a Bioinformatics Intern to contribute to a yeast genome annotation pipeline by integrating gene expression data. You will develop scripts and workflows to automate genomic data processing and document results for traceability.

You will collaborate with microbiologists and genomics scientists, using Python, R or Bash in a Unix/Linux environment, with exposure to Nextflow or Awk and basic Git skills. English fluency is required; French is a bonus.

Qualifications

• Student or recent graduate with strong genomics knowledge and bioinformatics exposure.
• Familiarity with NGS data analysis and transcriptomics is expected.
• Programming/scripting in Python, R or Bash; Unix/Linux environment experience preferred.
• Exposure to workflow tools such as Nextflow or Awk is a plus, with interest in reproducible pipelines.
• Git version control basics are expected.

Responsibilities

• Review literature and evaluate software for integrating gene expression data into yeast annotation.
• Develop and improve scripts/workflows to automate genomic data processing.
• Document code, workflows and results for traceability and reproducibility.
• Collaborate with microbiologists and genomics scientists to translate requirements into solutions.
