Lonza in Basel Stücki, Switzerland, seeks an Automation Engineer to design, program and implement automated drug-product solutions. You will work with automation scientists to develop scalable systems that meet quality standards.

The actual location of this job is in Basel Stücki, Switzerland.

What you will do:

• Routine sample preparation of drug product samples with an automated liquid handler as well as maintenance of automation systems
• Design, develop, program, and implement automated solutions using various digital platforms (e.g. Microsoft 365 products)
• Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in automation and digitalization to lead various workstreams
• Participate in root cause analysis for automation-related issues and implement corrective and preventive actions
• Ensure all automation activities comply with relevant GxP regulations, safety standards, and company policies
• Engage directly with automation scientists and other stakeholders to propose and implement automated solutions accordingly

What we are looking for:

• Master Degree in Engineering, Computer Sciences, Life Sciences or a related field
• Proficient programming skills in Python and other languages relevant to automation
• Hands-on experience with liquid handlers is highly desired, e.g. experience with state-of-the-art liquid handler software/hardware such as Hamilton Vantage/STAR line or, Tecan Fluent/Evo
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
• Fluent in English (written and spoken) is required. Any other languages are a plus
