Job summary

Lonza Group AG in Visp, Switzerland, seeks an Automation / Control Systems Engineer to ensure MSR readiness, maintain budgets, and drive improvements in high-automation Biologics facilities. You’ll work with DeltaV and MES systems, support GMP-compliant activities, and help document processes in SAP/COMOS.

The role requires engineering education and experience in pharmaceutical environments, with strong cross-functional collaboration and English proficiency in a diverse team.

Qualifications

• Equivalent experience in Electrical or System Engineering or related field.
• Experience with pharmaceutical or biotech plants is highly desirable.
• Proficient in SAP, COMOS, DeltaV and MES Syncade; fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Plan and realize electrical MSR readiness within budget and timelines.
• Ensure seamless operation of high-automated Biologics facilities with DeltaV and MES.
• Manage GMP-compliant activities including testing, documentation, and change management.
• Prepare and update plant documentation in SAP/COMOS for regulatory compliance.
• Implement continuous improvements in equipment and maintenance processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine procedures and workflows.

What you’ll do:

• Planning and realization of electrical MSR readiness (maintenance, changeovers, improvements) within the available budget and timelines
• Ensuring seamless operation and flawless performance of high-automated Biologics facilities equipped with DeltaV and MES systems. Equivalent experience is also acceptable for educational requirements like MES
• Managing GMP-compliant activities, including testing, documentation, and change management using systems such as Kneat and Ubik
• Preparing and updating plant documentation in SAP/COMOS to ensure strict compliance with regulatory standards
• Determining and implementing continuous improvements in equipment and maintenance processes to improve efficiency and reliability
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to refine internal procedures and achieve optimized workflows

What we’re looking for:

• Equivalent experience in Electrical or System Engineering or a related field, including University Degree or equivalent experience, or vocational education (EFZ, FH, HF, BSc.)
• Proven experience in the operation and maintenance of pharmaceutical plants or the biotech industry
• Proficiency in SAP, COMOS (Plant Engineering Software), DeltaV (Process Control System), and MES Syncade (Manufacturing Execution System) is highly desirable
• Proficient in English and/or to competently communicate in our diverse, collaborative environment
• Familiarity with GMP standards and protocols to ensure compliance in a regulated manufacturing setting
• A self-reliant, trustworthy, and effective working approach that ensures successful completion of tasks and projects
