Job summary

Novartis, through Magnit, seeks a highly motivated MSc or PhD graduate to join as a temporary contractor in Basel. You will develop automation and digital workflows for laboratory operations, interfacing with scientists and engineers to accelerate the automation journey across the labs.

You will implement programming solutions, support robotic systems, and drive process improvements while collaborating across teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Engineering, Bioinformatics, Data Science, Automation, Robotics or related field.
• Strong programming skills in Python or similar scripting languages.
• Demonstrated interest in automation, robotics, digitalization or computational problem solving.
• Good command of English (oral and written).
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to independently drive tasks and deliver results.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement programming solutions supporting laboratory automation and robotic platforms.
• Support implementation and programming of liquid handling and robotic systems.
• Collaborate with scientists and engineers to identify opportunities for process simplification and increased efficiency.
• Provide hands-on support to laboratory teams as needed.
• Contribute to the design, optimization and deployment of automated laboratory workflows.
• Lead or support work packages within automation and digitalization projects.
• Analyze laboratory processes and propose innovative solutions to improve productivity, quality and user experience.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across laboratories.
• Support adoption of emerging technologies, including automation, robotics and AI-enabled solutions where applicable.
