Job summary

UBS is seeking a Legal Engineer to shape our global in-house legal function by blending legal expertise with process thinking, technology and AI. You will identify opportunities to simplify and automate workflows, turning them into scalable products and AI-enabled services.

You will collaborate with leadership and stakeholders across Legal, Operations and Technology to design, prototype, test and deploy scalable legal solutions, promoting responsible AI adoption and governance.

Qualifications

• Understanding of legal processes and translate requirements into structured processes and tech-enabled solutions.
• Experience in process improvement, digital transformation, LegalTech, business analysis or product management.
• Hands-on with AI, automation and technology-enabled workflows, including Generative AI.
• Experience designing and implementing No-Code/Low-Code solutions.
• 5–8 years in a legal environment; legal background is an advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to simplify complex issues.
• Curious and eager to learn and apply emerging technologies in a business context.
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to bridge Legal, Technology and Business.
• User-centric mindset with focus on usability, adoption and measurable outcomes.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership from idea through implementation.
• Experience in a global/international environment is an advantage; a law degree is desirable.
• Fluent in English; German is an asset.

Responsibilities

• analyze and redesign legal processes, translating complex legal work into scalable workflows, decision logic and technology-enabled solutions.
• identify and implement opportunities for automation, LegalTech and Generative AI to improve efficiency, quality and user experience.
• collaborate with Senior Management, Lawyers, Legal Operations, Technology and business stakeholders to design, prototype, test and deploy legal solutions.
• translate legal and business requirements into practical, user-friendly and scalable products, tools and workflows.
• structure legal knowledge, content and data to enable reuse, automation and AI-supported legal services.
• promote continuous improvement and responsible adoption of AI by monitoring solution performance, incorporating user feedback and ensuring appropriate governance and human oversight.
• working closely with the Head of Change and Transformation to establish an innovative Legal Engineering function.
