This is a permanent, full-time role that will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. Periodically, you’ll be required to attend in-person activities or events.

As the Director of Mergers & Acquisitions, you will lead mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships to advance the company’s growth agenda. 5. Evaluate and Recommend Strategic Opportunities
    • Analyze and prioritize opportunities for acquisitions, divestitures, and partnerships to maximize value creation.
    • Provide data-driven recommendations to the VP of Strategy, Innovation, and CEO’s Office for decision-making.
  6. Collaborate with Senior Leadership
    • Partner with executives to define and advance enterprise development and partnership strategies.
    • Communicate strategic objectives and transaction progress across key stakeholders to ensure alignment and engagement.
  7. Ensure Regulatory Compliance
    • Oversee adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies during all transaction phases.
  8. Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with finance, legal, operations, and other departments to optimize deal terms and facilitate smooth integration.
    • Build strong internal and external relationships to support long-term partnerships and drive organizational value.

You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field; an MBA or similar advanced degree preferred.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or Chartered Business Valuator preferred.
  • 5 – 7 years of experience in enterprise development, investment banking, private equity, deals or strategy consulting in financial services, banking, or a related field.
  • Deep understanding of the cooperative sector and the unique challenges and opportunities it presents is an asset.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and managing end-to-end M&A transactions.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, leadership and influencing capabilities on a multi-cultural environment.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills – You are proficient in financial modeling, valuation, and interpreting financial statements, with ability to manage ambiguity and make data-driven decisions.

You are:

  • Analytical - With your strong problem solving and financial analysis skills, you can build forecasts and conduct assessments to support strategic decision making.
  • A Strong Communicator - You use your strong communication and interpersonal skills to influence and collaborate at all levels. You also have a proven track record in achieving favorable deal outcomes and managing complex negotiations.
  • A Project Manager – You are effective at managing large scale projects. You are adept at coordinating cross-functional teams, setting clear objectives, and maintaining project momentum. Your ability to anticipate potential challenges and proactively develop solutions ensures the successful delivery of complex initiatives.

We value lived experience, so if you are interested in this role, we encourage you to apply even if you feel your skills don't perfectly align with those listed.

The salary range for the role is $121,000 to $181,200. The upper half of the salary range is typically reserved for individuals who have demonstrated consistent strong performance in the role and possess a high level of job knowledge and skill.
