Program Overview

The Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) at Yorkville University prepares students for professional counselling practice in Canada. Delivered in a flexible online format, the program balances academic study with practical experience, emphasizing ethical, inclusive, and evidence‑informed practice. The curriculum integrates counselling theory, research and applied skills across areas such as trauma, addiction and educational counselling. A supervised practicum provides hands‑on training in individual, group and family counselling, ensuring graduates are well prepared to support diverse client needs in professional settings.

Position Overview

Reporting to an Associate Chair, Master of Counselling Psychology, the Teaching Faculty Member plays a vital role in advancing the University’s academic mission and fostering excellence in teaching, learning and scholarship. This position combines instructional responsibilities, service, research and student mentorship, with a strong emphasis on creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment that promotes student success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and facilitating counselling psychology theory and skills course
  • Fostering student success through ongoing support and coaching
  • Managing discussion forums and learning activities through the Brightspace platform
  • Timely marking and feedback for all student assessments
  • Respond to student inquiries and concerns
  • Coordinate with Practicum Supervisors to complete Formative and Summative evaluations
  • Facilitate online synchronous activities related to the curriculum
  • Perform administrative tasks related to the course
  • Support strategic program growth and ensure ongoing self‑development in the field
Skills, Experience and Competencies
  • A doctoral degree in psychology or a counselling related field
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in counselling, psychology, psychotherapy or related field
  • Canadian faculty
  • Active clinical practice registration/certification/license with an appropriate professional regulatory body or association in your province/jurisdiction (in adherence to relevant provincial regulatory laws)
  • Teaching experience at graduate level is a strong asset
  • Experience using Brightspace online delivery platform is a strong asset
  • Exceptional English communication skills, both written and verbal
