He/She is responsible for assisting in the smooth running of the overall snow making operation. They must assist in training and overseeing staff as well as maintaining proper working order of snow guns and equipment. They may at times also be required to assist elsewhere on the mountain in other departments.The incumbent should expect to be working outside in any, all and sometimes adverse weather conditions.This is a full-time seasonal role, 4 days out of 7 per week.Alberta Employment Standards regarding probationary periods apply.QualificationsIntermediate level (or better) skier/snowboarderCapable of working outside, at times in severe weatherSki Industry experienceMechanical backgroundPrevious snowmaking experiencePhysically fitMust be able to work flexible shiftsValid Class 5 driver’s licenseMust have intricate knowledge of all aspects of snowmaking operations, including (but not limited to) pump house start up and operation, pump house shutdown, setup and operation of all snow gunsPump and motor maintenance experience (i.e. greasing, oil changes, etc.)Snow gun maintenance experience (i.e. oil changes, nozzle replacement, etc.)Ability to train new snowmakers in snowmaking operations and snowmobile operationsWorking knowledge of pumps, plumbing, compressors, etc.Intricate knowledge of Ski Marmot Basin’s snowmaking terrain, coverage requirements, etc.Knowledge of Parks Canada best management practices as they pertain to snowmakingAbility to troubleshoot and solve snowmaking issues independently as they arisePrevious snowcat operating experience.Core CompetenciesProfessional deportment with excellent customer service skills: experience dealing with all on- hill patronsCheerful, outgoing personality; demonstrated temperament and disposition for stressful situations.Strong team member able to take directionMotivated and observant; able to perceive needed tasks and complete them without directionSelf-aware; able to identify strengths and gaps in own abilities and trainingAble to use taught skills and previous experience to problem solveRecreational mountain pursuits, such as rock climbing, and ski touring, are considered assets.Job Duties/ResponsibilitiesOversee snowmaking crew and snowmaking operationsSupervise trail crew activities between snowmaking shiftsComplete daily checks, maintain proper working order of snow gunsAssist the Grooming/Snowmaking Supervisor in all aspects of maintenance as it pertains to snowmakingTrain new snow making staffAdherence to the company’s policies and procedures as set in the “Grooming/Snowmaking Training Manual”Work in a safe efficient manner; point out any safety concerns that may create an unsafe situationAssist in all emergency situationsAssist other departments as needed; other duties as assigned.SupplementaryRespect and adhere to the company’s policies and procedures as set in the “Corporate Policies”, “Employee Handbook” and “Snowmaking Training Manual”Understand and adhere to Ski Marmot Basin’s “Harassment Policy” and the company’s “Privacy Policy”.Job DetailsPay TypeHourlyEmployment IndicatorSeasonal
