Our ideal candidate is an Occupational Health, Safety and Wellness leader with a graduate degree in health or business administration and comprehensive knowledge of all Occupational Health, Safety and Wellness related legislations and regulations. Experience with Hospitals of Ontario Disability Income Plan (1980 and 1992 plan) also known as HOODIP is required. A track record of quality improvement implementation is essential along with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

What will your day look like?

  • Provide oversight and direction to staff on the appropriate management of ill/injured employees, including direction on managing modified work processes and staff.
  • Attend key corporate meetings and committees to provide OHSW updates. Liaise with and develop effective working relationships with relevant associations and educational institutions to keep up to date on current and emerging health care legislation, developments, and trends and assess their impact on the Hospital.
  • Work in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies, and contraventions of the Act in a timely manner.
  • Develop and deliver educational materials and programs for clinical areas in compliance with legislative requirements, aligned with annual goals and objectives to meet organizational commitment to quality and safety.
  • Monitor clinical staff job descriptions and job plans for mandatory inclusion of OHSW requirements in continuing professional development and appraisals.
