Job summary
A leading mental health facility in Ottawa seeks a registered nurse with experience in psychiatric nursing. The role requires effective communication skills and knowledge of mental health issues. Ideal candidates possess CPR certification and a strong understanding of relevant legislation. Bilingual applicants are preferred.
Qualifications
- Up to 3 months Nursing Experience is required.
- Bilingual (French/English) is an asset.

Job description
Qualifications
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Up to 3 months Nursing Experience.
- Knowledge of mental health/addiction issues.
- Clear understanding of MHA and relevant legislation.
- Able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in psychiatric nursing practice as articulated in the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice.
- Knowledge of mental health/addiction issues with specific knowledge about physical/medical compilations related to mental health and addictions.
- Able to meet the standards of nursing practice of the College of Nurses.
- CPR certification within the last 12 months (BCLS at a minimum).
- Evidence of continuing professional education.
- Effective verbal and written communications skills.
- Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Problem solving, leadership and management skills in responding to complex and rapidly changing situations.
- Sensitivity, skills and experience working with diverse individuals and communities.
- English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.
- Experience in Mental Health and/or addictions.
- Membership and active participation in a professional nursing organization (RNAO).
- Experience working with homeless individuals or those at risk of homelessness.
- Experience working in the community and knowledge of community resource.
- Concurrent Disorder Training.
