Job summary

enCompass Community Safety Agency in Edmonton partners with REACH Edmonton and other community organizations to prevent youth violence among youth aged 12 to 24. The position uses wraparound, client-centered approaches to support long-term change, assess needs, advocate for services, and coordinate with probation officers, social workers and other professionals.

The role is based in Edmonton with hours Mon-Fri 8:00–4:30, serving various community settings across the area.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in a related human services field; registration with a relevant professional body.
• 2+ years’ experience with high-risk populations using a client-centered approach.
• Knowledge of the criminal justice system, Harm Reduction, Youth Criminal Justice Act, and related acts.
• Strong risk management, advocacy, and group facilitation skills.
• Experience with Indigenous and multicultural communities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver ongoing services using wraparound and client-centered approaches to support long-term, sustainable change.
• Assess clients to determine needs.
• Provide support and advocacy for clients and their supports as needed.
• Facilitate meetings with clients and their supports as needed.
• Assist clients with completion of various applications, documents, and forms until a support team is established.
• Provide appropriate internal and external referrals.
• Create and maintain a strong and professional working relationship with probation officers, social workers, correctional services workers and other professionals.
• Provide transportation of clients if required on a case by case basis.
• Assist with pre- and post- release support.
• Promote, coordinate, implement, facilitate the Empire Fighting Chance, a non-contract boxing program, in coordination with REACH Edmonton
