Job summary

enCompass, Edmonton, is recruiting for a position supporting youth in crisis via Wraparound, with a focus on safety planning, education, housing and health services. The role emphasizes a client-centered approach and coordination with multiple community partners.

The program targets youth aged 12–24 and involves collaboration with REACH Edmonton and other agencies to prevent violence and gang involvement. A post-secondary human services degree and driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a related human services field; registration with a relevant professional body, where applicable.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience working with complex, high-risk populations using a client centered approach.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system, Harm Reduction, Child Youth and Family Enhancement Act, Youth Criminal Justice Act.
  • Effective risk management, advocacy in systems and group facilitation.
  • Experience working with Indigenous and multicultural individuals and families; trauma-informed practices.
  • Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license, reliable vehicle and $2 million liability insurance.
  • Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Check.
  • Experience in client assessment, strength-based approach, interviewing skills, high risk youth and Trauma Informed Practices.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver ongoing services using Wraparound and client-centred, strength-based approaches to support clients in achieving long-term, sustainable change.
  • Assess clients to determine needs.
  • Provide support and advocacy for clients and their supports as needed.
  • Facilitate meetings with clients and their supports as needed.
  • Assist clients with completion of various applications, documents, and forms until a support team is established.
  • Provide appropriate internal and external referrals.
  • Create and maintain a strong and professional working relationship with probation officers, social workers, correctional services workers and other professionals.
  • Provide transportation of clients if required on a case by case basis.
  • Assist with pre- and post- release support.
  • Promote, coordinate, implement, facilitate the Empire Fighting Chance, a non-contract boxing program, in coordination with REACH Edmonton.
