  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system.

  • General computer knowledge (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Criminal Record Check and Children’s intervention record check required.

Responsibilities

  • Ongoing case management to meet basic needs.

  • Maintain data collection, entry and program assessments.
  • Answer calls for the Community Safety & Wellbeing Division and greet guests.

Salary Range: $53,060.40 To $60,650.40 Annually

Position Summary:

The Adult & Youth Support Worker delivers quality service by providing immediate and short-term assistance in meeting client basic needs and employment search support. Offering resources is done in an effort for clients to become independent and self-sufficient. This includes providing information, referrals, post-release planning and ongoing support. The Adult & Youth Support Worker provides targeted interventions to foster client involvement with interventions that will address their needs, such as education, employment training, financial support, treatment, housing and pro social supports. This position has reception duties related to the Community Safety & wellbeing division which includes greeting guests/clients and answering calls to support a wide variety of client services. This position Facilitate workshops on Employment, Financial Literacy and Emotion Regulation in house and out in the community utilizing Springboard HUB, a digital suite of skills development programming. HUB software engages clients who may not respond to traditional teaching methods.

Responsibilities:
  • Ongoing case management with the clients to foster coordinated and timely services that meet the client’s basic needs
  • Refer and assist client with completion of application processes and referrals when necessary, including but not limited to detox facilities, addictions recovery treatment programs, employment/educational programs and mental health programs
  • Maintain accurate and up to date data collection, data entry and completing of any program assessments and surveys as directed
  • Answer calls for the Community Safety & Wellbeing Division and transfer as appropriate
  • Provide basic referrals and information to callers about other services and agencies
  • Greeting guests and clients in a professional manner
  • Create and maintain a strong and professional working relationship with community agencies
  • Communicate pertinent information to supervisor and other staff as necessary
  • Facilitate services using a client centered approach
  • Maintain classroom confidentiality and respect
  • Provide internal and external referrals as requested
  • Facilitate curriculum while maintaining a positive learning environment
Qualifications / Skills:
  • Post-secondary education in human services or related field with 2 -5 years experiences specific to supporting multibarrier individuals
  • Experience working with multi-barriered clients using a client centered approach
  • Knowledge of criminal justice system
  • Strong interpersonal skills, developing rapport with clients, coworkers and partners.
  • General computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong knowledge of community resources
  • Ability to work independently within a fast paced, high work volume program
  • Professional within all aspects of employment and able to contribute to a strong team environment
  • Criminal Record Check and Children’s intervention record check. A criminal record will not disqualify you from employment with us; we evaluate each application individually
Conditions of Employment:
  • The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:00 – 4:30pm and works a 37.5-hour work week
  • The offices will be located at Transition Place Building, #101 10010 – 105 Street
