Job summary

Westside Recreation Centre is seeking a seasonal part-time skating instructor to supervise and lead lessons for children and youth. Responsibilities include lesson planning, safety oversight, and mentoring volunteers.

The role requires preparing evaluations, attending trainings, and maintaining equipment and records. Candidates should have CanSkate/NCCP or equivalent and CSA First Aid certification, with two years of experience.

Qualifications

• Two years of skating/hockey instruction experience
• CanSkate/NCCP Certification or equivalent is preferred
• Current CSA Standard Z1210-17 Intermediate First Aid
• Minimum age 18 years
• High Five is considered an asset

Responsibilities

• Supervise, lead, and instruct skating lessons for youth
• Develop lesson plans based on goals/objectives
• Ensure safety of all participants; follow emergency procedures
• Mentor Youth Volunteers and Leaders in Training
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; complete evaluations and reports
• Maintain attendance records and incident reports; manage paperwork
• Maintain equipment and facilities; ensure proper skating attire and safety gear
• Assist in promoting Westside programs and health philosophy
