City of Brandon is seeking a Learn to Skate Instructor for Brandon’s Community Sportsplex. The role focuses on helping individuals develop fundamental skating skills in a fun, safe environment, delivering lesson plans and assessing progress.
Instructors prepare program plans, instruct sessions, and promote participation while ensuring safety and enjoyment in line with established programs. The position is temporary, with 5–8 year-round weekend sessions; training is flexible prior to start.

Position Conditions: This program consists of 5-8 lesson sessions, year-round. Lessons typically take place on Saturday mornings. Training will take place on a flexible/casual basis in advance of commencing employment. This is a temporary position and will be offered in accordance with conditions identified in the Collective Agreement between the City of Brandon and CUPE Local 69. This opportunity is open to all applicants; however, first consideration will be given to current City of Brandon CUPE employees. The City of Brandon reserves the right to underfill this position
Rate of Pay: $17.37- $23.26 per hour (2026 Rates)
The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
NOTE: The City of Brandon requires proof of mandatory qualifications.
This competition will include an interview.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Learn to Skate Instructor is focused on helping individuals develop fundamental skating skills in a fun and safe environment at Brandon’s Community Sportsplex. This position involves preparing individual program plans, instructing skating programs and evaluating the progress of program participants while promoting interest and encouraging participation in program activity. Instructors work to ensure that participants have a positive experience and are performing the skills in a safe manner as set out in the established programs.
