Job summary

Town of Oakville is seeking a Senior Leader to assist the Recreation Assistant in supervising the Town's Youth Centres, developing and delivering youth programs, and ensuring a welcoming and safe environment for participants.

The role requires evening and weekend availability, completion of screening checks, and participation in required trainings. This position may be filled on an as-needed basis through October 30, 2026.

Qualifications

  • University/college program in Recreation Leadership, Youth Services, or related field.
  • 3 years’ work or volunteer experience with youth, leadership abilities.
  • Current Intermediate First Aid with CPR C from a WSIB-approved provider within last 3 years.
  • CPI Non-violent Intervention Training and counselling/communication skills are assets.
  • Strong problem solving and program planning skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing programming for the Town of Oakville Youth Centres, in collaboration with youth participants and staff.
  • Assist in the delivery of registered programs or activities for the Town of Oakville.
  • Assist in the supervision of the Centre during operating hours.
  • Assist in needs assessment of youth issues at the Youth Centre.
  • Ensure safety of participants and document accidents/incidents within 24 hours.
  • Report health and safety incidents as per guidelines and notify staff.
  • React to emergency situations following department procedures.
  • Foster a positive, welcoming, inclusive environment for all participants and staff.
  • Act as a role model and mentor for youth participants and promote healthy relationships.
  • Maintain attendance of drop-in and registered participants.
  • Support objectives and trainings in youth programming.
  • Other duties as assigned.
