Job summary

Finning Canada is seeking a Yardperson/Warehouse Person to support our Terrace, BC team. You will load/unload equipment, prepare rental gear, and assist customers with loading, unloading, and basic operation instructions. A focus on safety and attention to detail is essential in this role.

The position offers a 5x2 shift in Terrace with benefits, training opportunities, and a chance to work with industry-leading CAT equipment. Valid forklift experience and a Class 5 license are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum three months of operating rough terrain forklift, counterbalance forklift, large forklift (>30,000 Lbs.) and/or construction equipment.
• Class 5 Drivers License with no restrictions, valid driving abstract.
• Solid understanding of rental equipment with ability to perform minor repairs.
• Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail.
• Committed to a safe work environment and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Physically fit for the demands of the job.

Responsibilities

• Loads and unloads company trucks and inspects equipment prior to shipment and on return for serviceability.
• Notifies the shop foreman on damaged or missing equipment.
• Assists rental counter personnel in selecting rental-ready equipment.
• Processes equipment returns and closes rental contracts.
• Performs other equipment inquiries via the company systems.
• Verifies fuel consumed and inspects equipment on return.
• Installs service tags on returned equipment.
• Moves rental-ready equipment to proper storage after maintenance.
• Presents ready-to-rent equipment in an orderly fashion.
• Keeps warehouse and yard clean and organized.
• Greets customers in yard and directs them to the office or unloading areas.
• Assists customers and drivers in loading/unloading rental equipment.
• Gives customers basic operating instructions for rental gear.

Job Description

• Loads and unloads company trucks, inspects equipment prior to shipment and on return for serviceability.
• Notifies the shop foreman on damaged or missing equipment.
• Assists rental counter personnel in selection of “rental ready” equipment for each transaction.
• Processes equipment returns and closing rental contracts.
• Performs other equipment inquiries through the company’s computerized programming.
• Verifies fuel consumed and inspects all details of equipment when returned.
• Installs service tags on equipment returned from rental.
• Moves rental ready equipment back to proper storage areas following routine maintenance procedures by service shop.
• Presents ready-to-rent equipment in an orderly fashion.
• Performs general house-keeping of both the warehouse and yard.
• Greets customers in yard, helping direct them to office or unloading areas.
• Assists customers and delivery drivers in loading and unloading rental equipment.
• Gives customers start/stop and general operating instructions on rental equipment.

Qualifications

• Minimum three (3) months of operating experience of rough terrain forklift, counterbalance forklift, Large forklift (>30,000 Lbs.) and/or operating construction equipment.
• Class 5 Drivers License with no restrictions, successful drivers abstract required.
• Solid understanding of rental equipment and possess sufficient mechanical skills to perform and/or recommend minor equipment repairs.
• Strong organizational skills, with good attention to detail.
• Committed to a safe work environment, able to work with minimal supervision.
• Due to physical nature of the work, a requirement of the job is to be considered fit for work.

Important Information

• This position is based in Terrace, BC on a 5x2 shift. (Monday to Friday)
• Hours and shift schedule may be subject to change to meet customer and/or Finning (Canada) requirements. Please note that any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the Terms & Conditions of the current Collective Agreement
