Job summary

Finning International in Terrace, BC, is seeking an Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team. If you are self-motivated and eager to learn, this role offers strong growth and hands-on training with Caterpillar equipment.

This unionized, full-time position operates Monday to Friday (5x2) in Terrace, with wage progression from 2nd to 4th year apprentices and comprehensive benefits including medical, pension, and employee share purchase.

Qualifications

• 2nd–4th year apprentice considered.
• Strong experience in Electrical, Hydraulic and Emissions systems.
• Experience with construction, forestry and mining equipment is an asset.
• Engine and/or component rebuilding experience would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Caterpillar equipment.
• Perform inspections and identify mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine issues.
• Use advanced diagnostic tools to resolve equipment failures.
• Complete repairs and preventative maintenance to safety and quality standards.
• Communicate with customers and internal teams to provide service updates.
• Support safety culture and follow site and company safety requirements.
