Job summary

Northstar Access in Ottawa, Ontario is seeking a Yard Shipper and Receiver to manage movement of scaffold gear to customers who rent or have us build projects. The role is outdoors with heavy lifting and requires reliability and a calm, safety-conscious approach.

You will load/unload vehicles, perform order picking and gear organization, conduct safety checks, and may drive a company vehicle to job sites. Prior yard experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• G Class Driver’s license is required.
• Forklift license is required.
• Willingness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Experience as Order Picker or Material Handler is preferred.
• Scaffold knowledge and forklift license are assets.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Punctual and reliable with means of travel to work.
• Be a quick learner and take direction from others.
• Be a team player and able to train others as required.
• Good communication, organization, and time management skills.
• WHIMIS and CSTS training are assets.

Responsibilities

• Loading/unloading delivery vehicles with lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Order picking and ensuring accuracy.
• Counting, stacking, and organizing scaffold gear.
• Safety checks of gear and equipment.
• Keeping yard clean and organized.
• May operate company vehicle to deliver gear to customer or project sites.

Position Summary

We’re looking for a Yard Shipper and Receiver in our Ottawa, Ontario Branch to play a very important role in facilitating the movement of our scaffolding gear to our customers who rent the material or have us build it for their project.

Ideal candidates will have strong, self-directed work ethic and work well with others. You must be able to work in various environmental conditions as this position works primarily outdoors. There is also heavy lifting involved due to the nature of our products. Ultimately, we are looking for reliable and motivated people who don’t shy away from hard work.

Responsibilities:

• Loading/unloading delivery vehicles in a safe manner with frequent lifting up to 50lbs
• Order picking, ensuring accuracy
• Counting, stacking, and organizing scaffold gear
• Safety checks of gear and equipment
• Keeping yard clean and organized
• May operate company vehicle to deliver gear to customer or project sites
• Understand and adhere to the company’s safe work practices and regulations

Required Qualifications:

• G Class Driver’s license required

• Previous work experience in an Order Picker or Material Handler role preferred
• Scaffold knowledge and forklift license not necessary but an asset
• Strength and ability to lift items up to 50 lbs

• Be a Team Player; work well with others and train new members as required
• Good communication skills
• Good organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills
• WHIMIS and CSTS training considered an asset
