Northstar Access in Calgary, AB seeks a reliable Yard Shipper/Receiver to move scaffolding gear to customers and support yard operations. Candidates must work outdoors in various weather, handle heavy lifting, and maintain safe, organized yards while coordinating with drivers and crews.

Ideal hires will be self-directed, team-oriented and able to follow directions, with a focus on safety and efficiency. A Class 5 license and willingness to work outdoors are essential.

Qualifications

• Class 5 Driver’s license.
• Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Previous experience as Order Picker or Material Handler preferred.
• Scaffold knowledge and forklift license are assets.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Reliable travel to/from work.
• Quick learner; takes direction from others.

• Good organizational and time management skills.
• WHMIS/CSTS training is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Load/unload delivery vehicles safely with frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Perform order picking, ensuring accuracy.
• Count, stack, and organize scaffold gear.
• Conduct safety checks of gear and equipment.
• Keep yard clean and organized.
• May operate company vehicle to deliver gear to customer or project sites.
• Adhere to company safe work practices and regulations.

Who are we looking for?

Northstar Access yard in Calgary, AB is where we house and store our gear and equipment. Our yard workers play a very important role in facilitating the movement of our scaffolding gear to our customers who rent the material or have us build it for their project. As we grow continue to grow in Alberta, we are expanding our team through an opening for a Yard Shipper/Receiver.

Ideal candidates will have strong, self-directed work ethic and work well with others. You must be able to work in various environmental conditions as this position works primarily outdoors. There is also heavy lifting involved due to the nature of our products. Ultimately, we are looking for reliable and motivated people who don’t shy away from hard work.

Responsibilities:

• Loading/unloading delivery vehicles in a safe manner with frequent lifting up to 50lbs
• Order picking, ensuring accuracy
• Counting, stacking, and organizing scaffold gear
• Safety checks of gear and equipment
• Keeping yard clean and organized
• May operate company vehicle to deliver gear to customer or project sites
• Understand and adhere to the company’s safe work practices and regulations

Required Qualifications:

• Class 5 Driver’s license
• Be willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Previous work experience in an Order Picker or Material Handler role preferred
• Scaffold knowledge and forklift license not necessary but an asset
• Strength and ability to lift items up to 50 lbs
• Punctual and consistent with reliable means of travel to/from work
• Be a quick learner and take direction from others
• Be a Team Player; work well with others and train new members as required
• Good communication skills
• Good organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills
• WHIMIS and CSTS training considered an asset

The stated range, which may vary depending on primary work location, represents the minimum and maximum base salary we expect to offer newly hired employees for this position.
