Job summary

Nors Group in Ottawa is seeking a Y1 Apprentice Shop Technician to join our Service team. The successful candidate will actively participate in the apprenticeship process, aiming to become a 1st-year technician while enrolled as a 2nd year Heavy Equipment Technician (off road).

The role involves following safety procedures, diagnosing faults, repairing equipment, and preparing service reports. The position offers hands-on training and exposure to field work in a dynamic shop environment.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in heavy equipment/ Post-secondary diploma.
  • Similar work experience, Heavy equipment knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety processes and keep safety as priority.
  • Identify machine faults through proactive customer contact and diagnosis.
  • Perform timely and accurate diagnosis and repair including computer connection.
  • Submit accurate service reports with time cards.
  • Order parts and track deliveries to complete service work.
  • Report any potential timeline overruns to Supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure efficient shop service work and proper return of unused parts.
  • Adhere to Nors safety policies and report hazards.
  • Support training initiatives and operate heavy equipment safely.

We are looking for a Y1 Apprentice Shop Technician to join our Service team in Ottawa.

Summary

The Apprentice Technician role is for someone who is looking to become a 1st or who is already enrolled as a 2nd year Heavy Equipment Technician (off road). The successful candidate must actively participate in the apprenticeship process, and be dedicated to learning the trade .

Expected Salary range (per hour)

$22.00 - $26.00 per hour

Duties And Responsibilities
  • To follow all safety processes and procedures, and keep safety as the number one value;
  • Proactive customer contact in order to properly identify machine faults;
  • Timely and accurate diagnosis and repair including computer connection/diagnosis with machine to identify fault code;
  • Accurate and timely service report submissions (includes time cards);
  • Accurate ordering of required parts and follow-up to ensure parts are received in order to complete the assigned service work;
  • Immediately reporting to your Supervisor possibilities of exceeding the quoted timeline and describing newly discovered circumstances and or causes;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for all aspects of assigned tasks, including but not limited to: improving operating efficiencies and overall customer satisfaction through the timely completion of shop service work, responsible for the return of un-used parts upon the completion of shop service work;
  • Abide by Nors's safety policies and report all hazardous conditions and unsafe work procedures;.

Education/Training
  • Diploma in heavy equipment/ Post-secondary diploma .
  • Similar work experience, Heavy equipment knowledge
