Job summary

West-Wood Industries Ltd. in Shediac, NB seeks an experienced wood assembler to join a metal-and-wood product environment. You will read blueprints, operate woodworking machinery, and assemble components such as window sashes, doors, boxes, pallets and related fixtures on site.

This role requires hands-on experience with power tools, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality standards in a fast-paced wood products facility.

Responsibilities

• Assemble wood products such as window sashes, doors, boxes, pallets, ladders and barrels
• Make minor adjustments and repairs to wood products
• Record information on products inspected
• Assemble door panels, trusses or modular components to make prefabricated housing
• Read blueprints, written specifications and production drawings
• Pack items for shipping and distribution
• Reinforce assembled products with dowelling or other supports
• Install hardware such as knobs and hinges
• Inspect wood products for conformance to quality standards
• Mark defective parts or products for repair
• Trim, smooth, and shape surfaces
• Train staff
• Transport raw materials, finished products and scrap materials through the plant
• Repair glass doors and other glass structures
• Read blueprint, schemas and drawings
• Prepare, sand and trim wooden furniture and fixture parts
• Measure wood products to ensure conformance to specifications
• Decorate wood surfaces
• Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
• Operate woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointers, mortisers and shapers, to cut, shape and form parts and components
