Job summary

VICI MANUFACTURING INC. in Milton, Ontario, is hiring a labourer for wood and building components. This permanent, full-time, on-site role pays CAD 36.92 hourly with a 40–42.5 hour work week. Start as soon as possible.

Requirements include a secondary school certificate and 7 months to under 1 year of experience. English language is required; duties include reading blueprints, measuring and assembling materials, and coordinating site work.

Qualifications

  • Secondary school diploma is required.
  • Experience of 7 months to less than 1 year is preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs
  • Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements
  • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
  • Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
  • Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites
  • Survey building locations and levels
  • Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments
  • Clean work area
  • Organize and maintain inventory
