Job summary

Cooper Equipment Rentals is seeking a Welding Supervisor / Lead Hand to oversee the welding team, assign priorities, and ensure safe, high-quality fabrication and repairs on structures and equipment. You will read drawings, provide hands-on leadership, and coordinate resources to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive experience in structural fitting, welding, and fabrication.
• Experience leading or supervising welders or a team is preferred.
• Able to read and interpret engineered drawings and weld to specifications.
• Familiarity with SMAW, GMAW, FCAW welding processes and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct the welding team, assign work, and monitor progress for safety and quality.
• Provide hands-on leadership, technical guidance, and coaching to welders.
• Read and interpret engineered drawings and ensure compliance with drawings and welding standards.

You will be required to provide a copy of your updated abstract upon request.* 5+ years of progressive experience in structural fitting, welding, and fabrication, including experience welding steel and aluminum.* Previous experience providing leadership, direction, or technical guidance to others is preferred; Lead Hand or supervisory experience is considered an asset.* Strong structural fitting and welding experience.* SMAW, GMAW and/or FCAW certifications are an asset.* CWB certification for stick welding is an asset.* Strong ability to read and interpret engineered drawings.* Strong knowledge of welding techniques, equipment, materials, and safe work practices.* Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced environment.* Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, support, and motivate team members.* Rigging experience is an asset.* Customer oriented, with a willingness to learn and excellent problem-solving skills.* Comfortable working outdoors year-round.* Willing and available to work overtime when needed.* Highly adaptable, self-motivated, and able to effectively manage changing priorities.* Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with employees, colleagues, customers, and other parties in a professional and courteous manner.* Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods.
