Job summary

Ingersoll Rand's Fraserwoods facility in Western Canada is seeking an Assembly Technician/Welder to fabricate and assemble high‑quality components. You will read blueprints, perform mechanical assembly, and weld with MIG and FCAW, ensuring parts meet tight tolerances and safety standards.

The ideal candidate completed a trade program in welding or mechanics with 1–2 years of welding and assembly experience, and can read fabrication prints, operate forklifts, and adapt to changing priorities

Qualifications

  • Completion of trade school in welding or mechanics.
  • 1–2 years of mechanical assembly and welding experience.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Experience reading fabrication prints.
  • Manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lb.
  • Safety‑oriented with ability to follow policies.
  • Forklift and crane operation training provided.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret fabrication blueprints/drawings.
  • Perform mechanical assembly of sub‑assemblies and packages with tests.
  • Fit metal components to drawings ensuring tolerances.
  • Weld using MIG (GMAW) and FCAW processes.
  • Operate welding equipment and metal shaping machines.
  • Maintain safety and health standards in the workplace.
  • Operate forklift/hand truck for material handling.
  • Provide basic maintenance of welding equipment.
  • Operate metal working tools such as press brakes and saws.
  • Mask and paint parts as required.

Job Overview

In this role, you will play a crucial part in the fabrication and assembly of high‑quality components and products, ensuring they meet precise specifications and standards. The ideal candidate will have technical expertise in welding and mechanical assembly, along with a commitment to safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and understand fabrication blueprints/drawings.
  • Perform all mechanical assembly operations of sub-assemblies and package assembly, including functional test setup and in‑process quality checks.
  • Fit metal components as per blueprints/drawings and specifications, ensuring all tolerances are met.
  • Use processes such as GMAW (MIG) and FCAW.
  • Operate welding equipment (manual or semi‑automatic) and metal shaping machines.
  • Ensure tasks are performed within allotted time and in accordance with Health and Safety regulations and company policies and procedures.
  • Operate forklift, hand truck, and/or other material handling equipment as needed.
  • Perform basic maintenance of welding equipment.
  • Operate metal working equipment such as press brakes, saws, etc. as required.
  • Mask and paint parts as required.
