Position Summary
Identifies or verifies required maintenance work, interprets contract, schedules and coordinates in-house or sub-contractor work, and ensures work meets contract specifications. Ensures all aspects of the contract are coordinated and completed in a timely, efficient, effective, and profitable manner. Responsible for supervising maintenance crews effectively and supporting the Capital Works Manager for in-scope Capital improvements and additional works as required.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform condition assessments of pavements, signs, guardrails, tunnels, bridges, vegetation, and other infrastructure assets. Schedule and coordinate work to be performed.
- Collaborate with the Operations Manager/Capital Works Manager to determine the best approach (self-performance or sub-contract) for bringing assets into contract compliance, considering cost, timelines, and efficiency. Plan and coordinate all work items.
- Inspect ongoing and completed work to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Supervise maintenance crews, including selection, development, and performance management. Facilitate new hire training and ongoing safety and work standard training.
- Respond to incident emergencies, coordinate on-site responders, and report accidents/injuries (including near misses).
- Coordinate with fleet teams/mechanics for inspection, calibration, and repair of the fleet.
- Manage, monitor, and control highway project assets and materials.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, work methods, efficiency, and cost reduction.
- Create and oversee the successful completion of all work orders.
- Review claims for damages on the highway system for validity and gather data on such claims.
- Work with field coordinators to ensure accurate documentation and reporting as per contractual and company policies.
- Manage inventory for consumables in coordination with field teams.
- Engage directly with ministry staff, contractors, external agencies, and the public to address complaints and issues related to drainage, signage, permits, and road conditions.
- Assist in identifying, qualifying, and negotiating contracts with subcontractors.
- Support routine work activities such as traffic control and maintenance.
- Be available for emergency response rotations, including overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.

Education And Experience
- High School Diploma required.
- At least five years of experience in construction and/or road maintenance, with supervisory experience.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

- Regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use hands, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear. Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and using various tools and equipment.

- Combination of office and field work.

- Prolonged sitting, occasional standing/walking, manual dexterity, and visual acuity.
Field Environment
- Exposure to weather conditions, noise, and potential hazards such as chemicals and high places. Use of PPE required.
