Job summary

City of Winnipeg seeks a Communications Specialist to support the Winnipeg Civic Employees' Benefits Program (WCEBP). This on-site role coordinates website maintenance, creates clear content, and delivers member-focused communications with accessibility in mind.

The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary degree in Communications and 3+ years in web content management, strong writing/editing skills, and experience with CMS tools and Adobe Creative Suite. Competitive salary and benefits apply.

Qualifications

  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills with ability to communicate complex information clearly.
  • Experience managing website content through CMS; Liferay is a plus.
  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 accessibility, usability, and SEO best practices.
  • Experience creating content for digital and multimedia platforms.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and design/video editing software such as Adobe InDesign and Adobe Premiere.

Responsibilities

  • Research, write, edit, and adapt content for websites, educational materials, announcements and reports.
  • Translate complex pension and disability information into accessible content for diverse audiences.
  • Coordinate day-to-day maintenance and development of WCEBP's websites using CMS workflows.
  • Develop and maintain website content ensuring accessibility and user experience.
  • Create multimedia content to support member engagement and communications initiatives.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and IT staff on communications projects.
  • Support the development and execution of internal and external communication strategies.
  • Monitor website performance and feedback, recommend improvements for online services.
  • Ensure communications align with brand identity and WCAG 2.1 standards.
  • Stay current on communications, digital media and web accessibility trends.
