Job description

Maecon Infrastructure is a leading construction firm specializing in concrete restoration of bridges, commercial, and industrial infrastructure. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Waterproofing Technician to join our team and assist with on-site construction activities at various jobsites throughout Nova Scotia.

Position Overview :

Reporting to the Site Foreman, this position is responsible for performing a variety of construction-related tasks involving concrete waterproofing.

Qualifications :

• 3-5+ years of experience with hot applied and cold applied waterproofing application.
• Experience with applying Blueskin, spray cold, and damp proofing applications.
• Strong understanding of structural waterproofing, coating materials, and applications.
• Experience with traffic deck membrane applications.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Capable of handling and lifting heavy loads (more than 100 lbs).
• Reliable, punctual, and positive attitude.
• Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and waterproofing equipment.
• Willingness to work variable hours and travel throughout Nova Scotia.
• Physical ability to perform repetitive activities in a demanding environment.
• Effective team communication skills to ensure safety and timely task completion.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable transportation to and from jobsites.

Duties and Responsibilities :

• Assist in waterproofing application, working with various chemicals and coating products.
• Install waterproofing treatments according to established procedures.
• Operate and maintain hot applied waterproofing kettles.
• Monitor and maintain waterproofing equipment.
• Perform integrity and troubleshooting tests to identify defects in waterproofing membranes/coatings.
• Prepare structural surfaces (concrete or masonry) for waterproofing.
• Apply waterproofing and damp-proofing coatings using various materials.
• Install blindside waterproofing systems.
• Install Hot Rubber, Torch-on Membrane, Urethane Coating Systems, and Blindside Waterproofing Systems.
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair waterproofing issues as needed.
