  • Experience: 8–10+ years in international freight forwarding, maritime logistics, or global supply chain management.
  • Leadership: 5+ years supervising or managing logistics teams in a high-volume environment (300+ TEUs/containers weekly).
  • Cold-Chain Expertise: Hands-on experience with temperature-controlled (reefer) cargo, food safety standards, and perishable logistics.
  • SSL & Carrier Management: Proven track record negotiating directly with ocean carriers, managing freight tenders, and mitigating demurrage/detention costs.
  • Crosstrade & Trade Compliance: Expert knowledge of foreign-to-foreign shipping documentation (Bills of Lading, Phytosanitary Certificates, Certificates of Origin).
  • Tech Stack: High proficiency in ERP/TMS systems (SAP TM, S/4HANA), WMS platforms, and advanced Excel.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Business Administration. Professional certifications (CSCP, CCLP, P.Log) are strong assets.

Responsibilities

  • High-Volume Floor Leadership: Manage, mentor, and drive daily operational execution for a fast-paced team of 15 Logistics Coordinators executing 300+ ocean container shipments per week.
  • Foreign-to-Foreign (Crosstrade) Corridors: Oversee complex global ocean freight corridors, managing documentation, customs compliance, and port-to-port routing for shipments that do not transit through Canadian ports.
  • Cold-Chain & Reefer Operations: Take full accountability for temperature-controlled logistics (ocean reefers) for perishable and frozen food commodities, safeguarding product integrity from origin to destination.
  • Direct Carrier & SSL Negotiations: Lead high-level ocean contract and freight rate negotiations directly with major Steamship Lines (SSLs) such as Maersk, MSC, Hapag-Lloyd, and CMA CGM to secure space allocations, competitive rates, and detention/demurrage extensions.
  • Intermodal & Drayage Optimization: Identify logistics bottlenecks, streamline drayage/warehousing networks, and modernize daily tracking workflows using advanced TMS and ERP systems.
  • Financial & Claims Governance: Manage global RFQ/tender processes, oversee logistics budgets, and resolve high-value marine cargo insurance claims.

Operating across 70+ countries, our client manages a high-volume commercial shipping desk moving 300+ container shipments (TEUs) weekly. We are headhunting a Senior Operations Manager to lead a team of 15 Logistics Coordinators and own global ocean corridors.
