Responsibilities:

Operations

  • Ensure daily receiving, cycle counts, warehouse transfers and put/away are completed. Use SX Reporting to validate.
  • Manage and move items in and out of Quarantine Zone expeditiously.
  • Manage the warehouse inventory. Ensure all product has accurate bin locations. Resolve any issues with the purchasing team and accounts payable team related to inventory related inquiries.
  • Analyze and resolve workflow/personnel problems.
  • Ensure adherence to determined deadlines, policies and procedures.
  • Develop work schedules and assign tasks/responsibilities.
  • Communicate process changes and resolve quality concerns.
  • Verify product is not sent to customers until all inspection and test activities have been satisfactorily completed and relevant documents and data are available and authorized.
  • Organize and maintain a clean, safe working environment. Implement and maintain a 5S strategy.
  • Maintain a high level of communication with other branches, supervisors, leads, and managers.
  • Responsible for management and execution of all warehouse related Branch Scorecard objectives.

Leadership & Development

  • Manage a team of employees with a strong focus on teamwork and customer service.
  • Provide leadership and supervision through constructive feedback.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, develop and train employees to reach their maximum potential.
  • Conduct fair and concise disciplinary actions, and evaluation of the overall performance of employees.

Health & Safety

  • Promote safety awareness through training and regular meetings. Complete and record daily toolbox talks.
  • Read, understand, and follow Vallen’s health, safety, and environment policies and all applicable OH&S legislation/regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with TDG regulations.
  • Actively participate in Vallen’s health and safety management system, including training, audits, assessments, safety meetings, and inspections.
  • Identify, control, and report workplace hazards including following WHMIS/TDG requirements and reporting near misses.
  • Report workplace injuries immediately and participate in any return to work programs or requirements.
  • Be fit for duty and physically capable of performing all required tasks.

Education & Training:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Post Secondary education considered an asset.
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) considered an asset.
  • Proficient with computer software programs (Microsoft Suite).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to think critically and problem solve.
  • Handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion.
  • Forklift Certification highly desired.
  • Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 pounds.
