Job description

Venor is proud to partner with East Coast Docks on their search for a Warehouse Manager based in Orillia, Ontario.

East Coast Docks is a leading distributor of marine products in Canada, committed to providing innovative and sustainable marine solutions for the residential, commercial, industrial, and government sectors from Saskatchewan to Newfoundland. We specialize in offering high-quality dock systems designed for minimal maintenance and maximum enjoyment. Our mission is to enhance waterfront experiences through superior products and personalized service.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Warehouse Manager is responsible for supervising all activities within the warehouse, overseeing team performance, ensuring efficient storage and shipping of goods, maintaining inventory accuracy, and managing equipment and vehicle maintenance. This position also supports field project management activities, customer service, and sales support tasks when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
Warehouse Operations
  • Oversee daily warehouse operations, ensuring productivity goals and quality standards are met.
  • Supervise staff and maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment.
  • Manage inventory, including accurate ordering and stock control.
  • Pick and prepare orders for shipment; inspect incoming deliveries for damage or shortages.
Equipment and Vehicle Maintenance
  • Ensure all equipment and vehicles are properly maintained, repaired, and inspected regularly.
  • Schedule and coordinate preventive maintenance programs.
  • Safely operate and oversee the operation of tools including pressure washers, impacts, drills, saws, and grinders.
Project Support
  • Support project site preparation, material sourcing, and logistics for installation projects.
  • Work with warehouse and ordering teams to ensure product and equipment availability for project schedules to minimize extra trips to project sites.
  • Conduct post-project support by assisting with documentation, reporting, and customer feedback.
  • Provide walk-in customer support as required.
  • Support sales team by providing product availability updates and troubleshooting minor customer issues.
Leadership and Team Development
  • Manage warehouse human resources including recruiting, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Foster a positive, team-focused culture with strong communication and collaboration.
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are met and maintained at all times.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, training, and skill development to team members.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Complete all required forms, reports, and documentation thoroughly and on time.
  • Participate in the development and refinement of operational SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Contribute to the upkeep and updating of the Operations Manual.
Qualifications and Skills:

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of warehouse management experience supervising hourly employees and is well-versed in warehouse procedures, policies, and inventory control. Strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and attention to documentation are essential. A valid Class 3 (Class A in Ontario) Canadian driver’s license and forklift certification are required. Experience in project management or field operations support is considered an asset. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is also expected.

The successful candidate must demonstrate strong communication skills to effectively engage diverse audiences, actively listen, and address concerns. They take initiative, work independently, and act swiftly in both routine and crisis situations while fostering the same drive in others. Exceptional organizational and time management abilities are essential, with a keen attention to detail and the capacity to prioritize tasks under pressure. The role requires sharp problem-solving and analytical skills to resolve issues, improve workflows, and make sound decisions. A collaborative team player, the manager values input, builds trust, and works toward shared goals. Customer service is a top priority, ensuring both internal and external needs are met with responsiveness and professionalism.

This role is primarily warehouse-based, with occasional support for field operations. Standard hours are weekdays, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with extended hours and some weekend work required during peak seasons (spring and fall). Occasional regional travel may be needed for project support, customer service, or events such as trade shows.
