Job summary

YMCA Calgary is seeking a part-time Visual Arts Instructor for Saddletowne YMCA Calgary and occasionally other North YMCA Calgary locations. Salary ranges from $21.22 to $26.52 per hour with an October 15, 2026 start and a June 30, 2027 end date.

You must be 18+, bring related qualifications, and be prepared to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends. Benefits include a YMCA membership, program discounts, and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Associated Degree(s) or diploma(s) in related field: visual arts, teaching, working with children, youth, adults, seniors and/or individuals with disabilities.
  • Previous experience teaching/working in the field.
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider.
  • Meet and maintain any other specific licensing requirements.
  • Evidence of a cleared police security clearance including a vulnerable sector search.
  • Three professional references required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare lesson plans, teach and educate participants (children, youth, and/or adults and seniors) in visual arts skills, according to the curriculum.
  • Help develop/input to the current curriculum in alignment with program growth.
  • Ensure health and safety of participants by following health and safety practices and regulations.
  • Provide a safe, fun, engaging, creative and supportive environment for participants and volunteers.
  • Maintain exceptional organizational, multi-tasking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service and interpersonal communication.

Visual Arts Instructor (Contract, Part-Time)

*Visual Arts Instructors must be 18 years of age or older.

What qualifications are we looking for?

  • Associated Degree(s) or diploma(s) in related field: visual arts, teaching, working with children, youth, adults, seniors and/or individuals with disabilities.
  • Previous experience teaching/working in the field
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.
  • Meet and maintain any other specific licensing requirements
  • Evidence of a cleared police security clearance including a vulnerable sector search;
  • Three professional references required.

Duties and Responsibilities include:
