Job summary

PCL Constructors Canada Inc. in Toronto is seeking Virtual Construction Students for the Canadian Buildings Division for 4 or 8 months starting January 2027. You will contribute to project teams from the Toronto district, engaging with BIM, AutoCAD, and scheduling tasks.

This student role offers hands-on experience in site planning, BIM tools, and construction workflows, with a pay range of $21.37–$31.34 per hour based on experience.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have a strong desire to work in a construction environment.
• Application of various computer software programs will be required, including word processing and spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

• Sketch site plans using a JPG underlay (raster image) in AutoCAD.
• Key planning development for construction schedules and site layout documents including safety, access, trailers, electricity, crane swing, demolition, etc.
• Tower crane and hoist working drawings including plans, elevations and sections.
• Formatting plot styles and AutoCAD settings for desired design effects.
• Creating a job report binder for supervisor with updates as they become available.
• Creating new work order forms.
• Becoming familiar with BIM software such as Autodesk, NavisWorks, ArchiCAD/Constructor, Revit, 3D Studio Max, SketchUp and scheduling tools Navisworks and Primavera P6 EPPM.

As aVirtual Construction Studentand depending on your assigned project, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our team by:

Responsibilities

• Sketching site plans using a JPG underlay (raster image) in AutoCAD
• Key planning development for construction schedules and site layout documents which can include: site safety, site access, site trailers, temporary electricity, hoist access, crane swing, demolition etc.
• Tower crane and man/material hoist working drawings including plans, elevations and sections
• Formatting plot styles and various AutoCAD settings for desired design effects
• Creating a job report binder for their supervisor that requires immediate updates when available
• Creating new work order forms
• Becoming familiar with building information modeling (BIM) software such as Autodesk, NavisWorks, ArchiCAD/Constructor, Revit, 3D Studio Max, Sketchup etc; and
• Becoming familiar with scheduling programs Navisworks and Primavera P6 EPPM

Qualifications

• Candidates must have a strong desire to work in a construction environment and prior field construction experience will be considered an asset.
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD
• Application of various computer software programs will be required, including word processing, spreadsheet applications and drafting.

The estimated hourly range for this role is $21.37- $31.34, based on your experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be confirmed as part of a personalized offer.
