Job description

Jones Healthcare Group – Where Innovation Meets Purpose!

Our future growth depends on our ability to identify emerging opportunities, deepen customer relationships, and expand into new markets.

We're looking for a commercial leader who is energized by that challenge.

This is an opportunity for a growth-oriented leader who enjoys building — relationships, market presence, and long-term business value. As Vice President, Business Development, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our Packaging Services Business Unit by identifying and converting strategic opportunities into sustainable, profitable growth.

We're seeking someone who combines strategic thinking with a relentless drive to execute. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is customer-focused and motivated by the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

Why This Role Matters

This role sits at the center of our commercial growth strategy. You will have significant influence over the markets we pursue, the customers we target, and the commercial direction that shapes our future success.

You'll work closely with senior leadership to determine where we should play, where we can win, and what investments and capabilities are needed to support sustainable growth.

This is an opportunity to have a meaningful, immediate impact on the organization.

If you're motivated by building something, influencing strategy, and seeing the direct results of your efforts, we encourage you to explore this role further.

What You’ll Be Accountable For
Driving Growth
  • Develop and execute a business development strategy that delivers sustainable and profitable growth.
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities across Canada, the United States, and international markets.
  • Build and maintain a diversified sales pipeline aligned with strategic growth objectives.
  • Lead complex commercial negotiations, proposals, RFQs, RFPs, and customer agreements.
Understanding the Market
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, customer needs, competitive activity, and market developments.
  • Identify emerging opportunities and recommend new market segments, service offerings, and growth strategies.
  • Bring fresh thinking and challenge conventional approaches when opportunities exist to improve outcomes.
Being the Voice of the Customer
  • Develop meaningful customer relationships and understand the challenges they are trying to solve.
  • Translate customer insights into commercial opportunities and strategic recommendations.
  • Champion a customer-first mindset throughout the organization.
Collaborating Across the Business
  • Partner with Operations, Finance, Quality, Market Growth, and Leadership teams to align commercial priorities with operational capabilities and business realities.
  • Ensure customer solutions are commercially viable, operationally feasible, and aligned with business objectives.
  • Collaborate across business units to identify and act on synergies across the organization’s full value chain, ensuring opportunities are viewed holistically and leveraged to deliver integrated solutions and incremental growth.
Leading and Influencing
  • Lead through credibility, influence, accountability, and action.
  • Foster a culture of transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Build organizational capability and support future growth of the commercial function.
What Success Looks Like (6–12 Months)
  • Build a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities across strategic target markets.
  • Increase diversification of our customer portfolio and revenue streams.
  • Leverage your industry network to create new conversations and opportunities.
  • Establish yourself as a trusted advisor to prospective and existing customers.
  • Develop a clear view of market opportunities, competitive dynamics, and emerging trends.
  • Partner with Leadership to align commercial opportunities with organizational capabilities.
  • Strengthen commercial discipline around pipeline management, forecasting, and opportunity prioritization.
  • Help position our organization as a preferred packaging partner within the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.
What You’ll Bring To The Role
  • 10+ years of progressive commercial leadership experience within pharmaceutical packaging, contract manufacturing, contract packaging, healthcare, life sciences, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated success generating new business and delivering measurable revenue growth.
  • Experience selling complex solutions into pharmaceutical, healthcare, biotechnology, or life sciences organizations.
  • Strong network of industry relationships and decision-maker contacts.
  • Experience navigating long sales cycles and complex commercialization processes.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, including pricing strategy, margin analysis, forecasting, and business case development.
  • Experience leading complex negotiations and managing strategic customer relationships.
  • Previous leadership experience with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
You Will Thrive In This Role If You
  • Are energized by building new business rather than maintaining the status quo.

  • Know how to open doors, create relationships, and convert opportunities into long-term partnerships.
  • Balance strategic thinking with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and execute.
  • Challenge assumptions respectfully and bring forward solutions.
  • Are comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial environment where agility, resourcefulness, and adaptability matter.
  • Understand that growth comes from listening to customers and finding ways to meet evolving needs.
