Job summary

Island Animal Hospital in Nanaimo, BC is seeking a Veterinary Receptionist to join our team. The role is ideal for an organized, motivated, and empathetic professional taking on a central hospital support function.

You will greet clients, manage check-ins/outs, schedule appointments, handle calls, and coordinate communication with medical teams to support emergency and specialty care. Training is provided for our in-house systems.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a receptionist or front desk in human or veterinary medicine.
• Professional and calm demeanour when assisting clients with questions, requests, or sensitive information
• Experienced with booking medical appointments and locating schedules within the system
• Strong knowledge of electronic medical records; training is provided for our in-house system
• Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, Adobe)
• Previous knowledge of Moneris POS terminals is an asset
• Strong attention to detail & accuracy when recording and relaying information
