What can you expect?

The Vehicle Mechanic II plays a visible role in providing an outstanding experience for guests through the safe and reliable operation and maintenance of the powered equipment fleet, including snowcats, snowmobiles, light passenger and commercial vehicles, off-road vehicles, heavy equipment, generators, and buses. Mechanic II’s focus on safety, efficiency, and approachability while assisting senior Mechanics with inspections and repairs. They report to the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor or designate and work under the guidance of senior personnel in Maintenance, liaising frequently with various operational departments.

Assisting in all maintenance duties such as testing, troubleshooting, adjusting, overhauling, repairing, and servicing equipment, while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. Tasks include operating equipment, conducting inspections, disassembly, assembly, and cleaning of equipment and work sites.

Administrative and Reporting Responsibilities:

  • Completing documentation such as daily checks, logs, reports, maintenance records, inventory counts, and worksite inspections.
  • Communicating any unusual operating conditions, including mechanical, operational, or environmental issues.
  • Adhering to company policies, relevant legislation, and manufacturer guidelines, including OHS standards, codes, and the Employee Handbook.
  • Promptly reporting incidents and deficiencies to appropriate departments or personnel.

Other duties may be assigned as needed.

And you are/have:

  • Mechanically inclined with a basic set of appropriate tools.
  • A valid and clear Alberta vehicle operator’s license.
  • A positive, mature, and friendly attitude.
  • Calm under pressure and patient.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to work confidentially.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, nights, and extended hours.
  • Prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions with appropriate gear.
  • Maintain professional conduct when in uniform, on or off-duty, and online.
  • Ability to support and assist coworkers effectively.
  • Participation in meetings and training sessions.
  • Neat, alert, punctual, and dependable.
  • Ability to provide effective team transport using company vehicles as required.

Additional considerations:

  • Employees must be of sound mind, exhibit good judgment, and report fit for duty.
  • This role involves standing for long periods, frequent lifting (up to 45 kg), pushing/pulling equipment, climbing stairs and ladders, hiking, and moving around in alpine environments.
  • Operation and maintenance of machinery, vehicles, and working around moving equipment.
  • Use of hand and powered tools such as wrenches, testing equipment, and hoists.
  • Candidates may need to provide their own transportation to the resort base.
  • Provision and maintenance of CSA-approved safety footwear are required.
  • Uniform pieces are provided.
  • Potential exposure to chemicals such as solvents, oils, grease, and fuels.
