Canadian Lynden Transport is looking for Mechanic who ensures that the fleet of equipment is well maintained for safe use while following all regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Attendance and timeliness are essential functions of this position
  • Preform services and repairs on highway trucks, local trucks, trailers, yard equipment and shop equipment
  • Rebuild or replace defective parts
  • Work with air brake systems (drum and disc brake) on trucks and trailers
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and air systems
  • Work on a variety of different trailers: vans, flat decks, step decks, double drops, curtains, jeeps and boosters
  • Sets up and operates drill press, mag drill, plasma cutter, oxy acetylene torch, miter saw, grinders and other tools
  • Reads job order and determines work procedures
  • Performs basic computer functions by completing job work orders using Transman Fleet Equipment Maintenance System, recording materials used, type of work accomplished, and maintenance system codes
  • Complies with all company safety policies, including use of protective equipment and Fit for Work

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and speak sufficiently to converse with co-workers, supervisors and managers, to understand procedures and warning signs, to respond to inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to understand detailed written and oral instructions; ability to read and understand wire and air schematics.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions, and the ability to prioritize and problem-solve in time/safety-sensitive situations.
  • Ability to provide objective and decisive action(s) necessary to resolve any/all issues with minimal disruption to operational performance.
