Job summary

WATT is seeking a senior transportation engineer and people leader to guide our Vancouver Island Transportation Engineering team. This role blends technical leadership, team development, client relationships, and business growth.

You will lead complex assignments, establish design standards, and ensure quality across projects while traveling across Vancouver Island. Registration as a Professional Engineer in BC or eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Registration as a PE with EGBC, or eligibility in BC.
• 8+ years of transportation engineering experience.
• Proven success leading people and delivering projects.
• Strong knowledge of BC municipal standards and approvals.
• Track record building client relationships and securing work.
• Proficiency with Synchro, VISTRO, CAD; roadway design experience.
• Clear communication and mentoring mindset.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead for the Vancouver Island team and guide complex assignments.
• Lead transportation impact assessments, scope, schedule, and budget.
• Set and maintain technical standards, templates, and QA practices.
• Prepare high-quality reports and review team work.
• Develop relationships with municipal, provincial, and private clients.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and staff development.
• Provide visibility into team performance and collaborate on strategic initiatives.
