Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. in Saskatoon is seeking a Vacuum Truck Operator to join our Vacuum Truck Services team. You will safely operate vacuum equipment, perform pre-trip checks, and maintain thorough driver logs and documentation to ensure NSC compliance.

Flexibility to work evening shifts and weekends is required, with a strong emphasis on safety, teamwork, and environmental compliance. A Class 3 license with air brakes is required, with Class 1 as an asset; physical fitness is essential to

Job description

Summary The Vacuum Truck Operator will work with the Vacuum Truck Services team to provide exceptional service to our clients. Services provided include (but are not limited to): spill cleanup and loading and hauling of various fluids/material. The chosen individual will perform this diverse range of activities with a focus on safety, professionalism, and teamwork. This position involves working evening shifts and/or weekend hours. Flexibility to work outside standard daytime hours is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate vacuum equipment in an industrial setting
• Follow company policies and procedures as well as various on-site Requirements.
• Provide exceptional service to all clients and professionally represent GFL.
• Complete daily equipment pre-trips and driver logs required for NSC compliance.
• Maintain detailed and accurate company documentation to accompany work performed.
• Demonstrate a commitment to environmental compliance.
• Participate in safety programs such as safety meetings, near miss reporting and job hazard assessments.
• Work independently while managing time and productivity and communicating effectively.

Requirements

• A minimum of 6 months of Industrial Vacuum Truck Operation experience.
• A valid Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Brakes and a clean Commercial Drivers Abstract is required; Class 1 Driver’s License with Air Brakes would be an asset.
• Ability to operate a manual transmission is an asset.
• Valid safety tickets such as First Aid/CPR, Construction Safety Training (CSTS), Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and H2S Alive are considered an asset.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
• Safety-focused attitude with experience working in an industrial setting.
• Knowledge to perform minor maintenance on units to maintain efficient operation.
• Must be in good health and physical condition to perform duties assigned.
• Possesses cleanliness and organizational skills.
• Willing to accept after-hour calls when necessary.
• Some short-term travel and overnight stay as required.
