GFL Environmental Inc. in Kitimat, BC is seeking Local Vacuum Truck and High Pressure Pump Operators to transport, remove, deliver and collect hazardous wastes, supporting the team with swamping and physical tasks.

This role provides exposure to a wide range of vac trucks and high-pressure pumps. You will operate vac trucks, set up hoses, maintain driver logs, and ensure equipment is clean and ready for use.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class 3 driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to operate manual transmission equipment.
  • Ability to travel when required.
  • Flexibility to work after-hours for call outs.
  • Positive attitude with strong customer service ethic.
  • Motivated, able to multi-task and collaborate in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Operate vacuum trucks and hydro-vacs, and handle high-pressure pumps and equipment.
  • Set up and control hoses to ensure safe operation.
  • Maintain and update the driver’s logbook daily.
  • Ensure all equipment and tools are properly cleaned and stored after use.
  • Assist with job site preparation and rigging in/out equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Position Summary

Our GFL Industrial Services team is seeking Local Vacuum Truck and High Pressure Pump Operators in Kitimat, BC. The responsibilities include but are not limited to transporting, removing, delivering, and collecting diverse liquid and solid hazardous wastes from different locations. Additionally, the successful candidate will be required to assist with swamping and undertake various physical tasks to support the team. This role also provides the opportunity to operate a wide range of vac trucks and gain experience with high pressure pumps and equipment.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate various trucks to perform tasks required by the customer ranging from vacuum trucks and hydro-vacs to combo-vacs and high-pressure pumps and equipment.
  • Set up and control hoses attached to the pumps to ensure safe and effective operations.
  • Maintain and update the driver's logbook daily.
  • Ensure all equipment and tooling is cleaned and stored in the appropriate unit, case, or container before it is returned to the shop.
  • Participate in job site preparation, including the rigging in/out of equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Valid Class 3 drivers’ license with an acceptable commercial driving abstract; Class 1 driver’s license is an asset.
  • Must be able to operate manual transmission.
  • Ability to travel when required.
  • Flexibility of working after-hours for any call outs.

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50lbs.
  • Positive attitude and a strong sense of pride in your work.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service to GFL clients and customers.
  • Must be motivated, able to multi-task, and effectively collaborate in a team environment.
