Responsibilities

• Drive the financial performance of the unit through budgeting, cost control, inventory management, and planning.
• Lead foodservice operations, including production, service delivery, purchasing, and inventory management.
• Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and performance manage associates while fostering a positive workplace culture.
• Build and maintain client relationships and ensure high customer satisfaction with food quality and service delivery.
• Monitor performance via financial reporting, inspections, and quality audits, implementing corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with quality assurance, food safety, OH&S, WHMIS, and contractual obligations.
• Conduct inspections, safety talks, and maintain compliance documentation.
• Manage weekly inventory reporting, food ordering, and cost management to improve profitability.
• Support sales, marketing, catering, and promotional initiatives while maintaining standards.
• Ensure facilities, equipment, and areas are clean, safe, and ready for service.

Job description

The salary range for this position is $50,000 to $52,000 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may be entitled to other elements of total compensation, which may include group benefits, employer RRSP contributions, and discretionary bonus or incentive programs, where applicable to the role. We are committed to offering competitive compensation and comply with all applicable pay transparency legislation. As the Unit Manager, you are responsible for the overall leadership and day-to-day operation of the unit, ensuring operational excellence, financial performance, food quality, safety compliance, and client satisfaction. You will lead frontline teams, oversee foodservice operations, manage budgets and inventories, and ensure services are delivered in accordance with Compass standards and contractual obligations.

• Build and maintain strong client relationships and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction with food quality and service delivery.
• Monitor operational performance through customer feedback, financial reporting, inspections, and quality audits, implementing corrective actions as required.
• Ensure compliance with Compass Quality Assurance programs, food safety standards, Occupational Health & Safety legislation, WHMIS requirements, and contractual obligations.
• Conduct workplace inspections, food safety audits, safety talks, incident investigations, and maintain required compliance documentation.
• Manage weekly inventory reporting, food ordering processes, and cost management initiatives to optimize profitability and operational efficiency.
• Support sales, marketing, catering, and promotional initiatives while maintaining service and presentation standards.
• Ensure the proper maintenance, cleanliness, sanitation, and readiness of facilities, equipment, and foodservice areas.

• Ability to develop positive client relationships and deliver exceptional customer service.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; culinary knowledge or experience is considered an asset.
